English Drama: Table of Contents

From the Table of Contents page, you can use the Page Toolbar to open a context-sensitive Help page and to refine your original search.

From every page in English Drama you can use the Right-Hand Toolbar to consult general information about English Drama, to start a new search, to access the top-level Table of Contents page, and to switch between components of Individual Literature Collections.

There are three ways to access the Table of Contents page. You can:

Right-Hand Toolbar Table of Contents iconclick the Table of Contents icon from the Right-Hand Toolbar on any page. This will take you to the top-level Table of Contents page arranged as an A-Z list. You should select a letter to download a list of playwright names for that entry from which you can select your required playwright. You are then presented with the Table of Contents for the works of that playwright.
Small Table of Contents iconclick the Table of Contents icon corresponding to a particular entry in the Summary of Matches page. This will take you directly to the Table of Contents, expanded to the level of the relevant item.
Page Toolbar Table of Contents iconclick the Context icon on the Page Toolbar of the Full Text page. This will take you directly to the Table of Contents page, expanded to the level of the Full Text entry.

The Table of Contents page allows you to browse through the contents of all the works contained in English Drama and look at their structure. For example, you may wish to browse the plays of a particular playwright, or look at the original context of the play you are currently viewing.

The various levels of heading are represented in the Table of Contents by branches which can be expanded or collapsed. Navigation within the Table of Contents is by means of the icons expand icon and collapse icon which indicate whether you can expand or collapse a branch to change the level of detail displayed.

Each of the branches in the Table of Contents is hyperlinked to the Full Text of the corresponding item. The title of each item is followed by the download size in bytes of the corresponding Full Text page. The larger the download size of an item, the longer the Full Text page will take to download.

The order of the Table of Contents is the same as the Full Text; works are arranged alphabetically by playwright and then by play title. Each play is then broken down into subdivisions reflecting the structure of the original work.
